FAQs

What is a Discovery Call?

A Discovery Call (or Consultation call) is a complimentary session in which you and I get to know each other a little more. The discovery call offers YOU, the prospective client,  the opportunity to discover what your current needs or challenges are and if I can support you in solving those challenges. How do we do that? I ask questions! In a discovery session call, our focus is to assess if we are the right fit for each other; to see if we can work together. Click HERE to schedule your free discovery call.

What is a Life Coach?

“The International Coaching Federation (ICF) defines coaching as partnering in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires a person to maximize their personal and professional potential. The process of coaching often unlocks previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity and leadership.” (Source: experiencecoaching.com)

According to VeryWell Mind, Life coaches can help you clarify your goals, identify the obstacles holding you back, and then come up with strategies for overcoming each obstacle. In creating these strategies, life coaches target your unique skills and gifts. By helping you to make the most of your strengths, life coaches provide the support you need to achieve long-lasting change.” (Read more)

What a Life Coach IS NOT:

A life coach is NOT a mentor, therapist/mental health counselor or consultant. A life coach helps you come to your own solutions through a series of tools and techniques. A life coach will not tell you what to do or give you advice but rather EMPOWERS  YOU to find your own path, and make the right choices for you.

*How is Coaching different from Therapy?

The main difference, according to Zencare, is “therapy focuses on mental health and emotional healing, while life coaching focuses on setting and achieving goals.”

Coaching empowers you to achieve goals

Therapy helps you learn to heal

Coaching teaches you how to achieve big dreams and/or break free if you feel stuck

Therapy helps you heal from mental health challenges

Coaching focuses on improving the “here and now”

In therapy, you face the past in order to move forward

How does it work? What do I have to do in sessions?

Depending on the package you choose, sessions can be highly structured, following a pre-determined curriculum including specific handouts to be used during and in between sessions. Alternatively, we can approach our Coaching relationship more organically, combining goal setting and clarifying sessions, using supportive tools as issues are identified.

How long will it take?

That depends on the program you choose. The average length of time for Coaching is 12 sessions (approximately 3 months).  Some individuals prefer to continue the coaching relationship with monthly check-ins after initial programs have concluded.
